During the 1990s, French immunologists sought to develop a protected SOD that would retain its activity. Thus, SOD combined with a wheat protein was created.
In this context, a type of melon found to have superior SOD activity became the source of the enzyme. In 1996, the first oral, plant-based and effective form of SOD was patented.
In 2001, François Vix founded ISOCELL Laboratories with the first patent, to develop GliSODin and demonstrate its effectiveness scientifically and clinically. In 2017, GliSODin skin health line was launched in France.=
